Vimala is trained dancer, starting her training at the age of five. Her childhood passion is Bharthanatyam. She was born in Sydney and have trained with guru Smt. Jayalukshmi, the Natanalya Dance & Music Academy based in Sydney, Australia. She graduated in Bharthanatyam in 2000.
For the past 18-years she is performing in all annual programs of Natanalya. She takes major roles in all dance drama. Apart from participating in learning centers, she has performed her dances in several temples, temple functions and festivals across the globe. Her major performance was during the Opening Ceremony of the Sydney Olympics.
She also performed in Sri Lanka, Music Academy in Chennai, Mahabalipuram Dance Festival, and college functions in Bangalore, India as a part of a troupe called Australian Indians!
She won Miss India Australia 2004 title. She also anchored Jaya TV (Tamil TV channel) dance program called "Salangai Oli" back in 2004. The program was successful and Vimala Raman got noticed by general audience in south India.
She started her film career under K.Balachander's direction movie POI in 2006. This followed by couple of movies in Malayalam. Her recent release in Tamil "Raman Thediya Seethai"
